"goodness is the only investment that never fails"

one of my most useful classes just so happens to be one of the most boring classes i have ever taken. business it's legal, ethical and global environment. i feel bad for all the pre-law students here because the class is just down right unattractive towards law. but when you engage in a debate about the topics presented in this book your blood gets a rushing and a captivating conversation is sparked. which leads to my food for thought. as me and classmate were discussing the lack of ethical behavior omitted by the heads of the enron scandal. it was noted that nothing that these men did was illegal. everything was in compliance with the law. so what made this such a controversial matter... enron employee's were simply poking their ways through the holes in the system.
a friend and me got into a mini discussion on what's a small lie. when is it socially acceptable to lie. it is okay to lie to someone to make them feel better about themselves... that's what enron was doing to their stock holders. they were lying about their financial position to make it seem like they were a profitable company.
what about keeping information from an entity. just because it's not something that they been asked to produce is that entity not entitled to give out the information that could be damaging. my belief is yes. if you have the knowledge and understanding in business or in life that you have breached an ethical boundary it is your duty to inform the effect person.
just like enron knew that they where pushing their debts overseas to phony entities. people are fully aware of the actions that they perform, and responsibility for one's actions must be taken. after all the truth will away come out. you make try to paint it black or throw it in a river. but mind you. no wrong doing goes unpunished or undiscovered.

in the end a lie
is a lie
and i prefer the truth.
and i wish i had the patience to go to law school.
